Proactive Live Web Chat... NOT Staffed... Yay or Nay?

I just had the oddest online experience, so odd in fact, that I thought I'd share - then decided a poll would be an interesting way to do it.

 

So, I was just on a web site and suddenly, a pop-up appeared asking me if I'd like to chat with a sales person. I clicked "yes," completed a short form and then waited... Only to then have a message appear that no one was available to chat with me as it was outside of their "normal" business hours. And that I should leave a message or try to contact them later. WTF? They reached out to ME!

 

I'm not going to chat and tell, but I can tell you I was very disappointed in the said company as I'm currently a customer.

 

What would you do if this happened to you?
