Eytan Abrahams and I learned something interesting at EE13 this year regarding custom data objects and the use of decision rules within the campaign canvas. I wanted to see if the majority of the community was aware of this and what is the potential impact on them (if there were not)
To be specific, I am referring to this piece of functionality.
From what Eytan and I learned, it seems that when you are running a decision rule off of a CDO in Campaign Canvas it chooses a random CDO to run that rule against. Unlike field merges (which choose the last modified CDO which has its problems but is at least predictable), the decision rule looks at a random CDO.
This seemed so odd to me I wanted to pose the question to the community. Why even have this decision rule in the canvas since unless the contact in question has only one CDO attached to their record, the decision has a high % of being evaluated erroneously. Did everyone know this except for Eytan and I? In practical terms, I understand that CDO's cannot flow through the campaign canvas (unlike PB) but I would have thought it would at least adhere to the "most recently modified" rule set that field merges adhere too.
